Avoid Common Affiliate Marketing Mistakes And Enjoy A Steady Income

One excellent way to make steady money online is through affiliate marketing. Still, affiliate marketing is not for the faint of heart. Whether you’re a potential affiliate or a merchant, it’s important that you first understand some of the more common affiliate marketing mistakes and how to avoid them.

Here are some of the common mistakes:

Affiliate Marketing Mistake 1: Assuming a customer will notice and click on your link.

Users need to be enticed to click.  Advertising has become an integral and noticeable part of our daily lives.  Affiliate marketers without finesse are easy for consumers to spot and subsequently ignore.  Web browsers encounter pop-ups, pop-unders, banner ads, sidebar ads and sponsored results.  What’s more, websites are chock full of hyperlinks – handheld devices like the iPhone have even rendered phone numbers as links.  This leaves users far less likely to click on hyperlinks without just cause.  As with any other form of marketing, you’ll first need to consider the customer’s motivation to click the link.  Once you’ve determined the why, then determine how you’ll convince them to click on your link, from graphics to enticing copy.  If you want to see commissions, you’ll need to lay the groundwork for the merchant you are leading a customer to, which means you too will have to do a good portion of the hard sell.

Affiliate Mistake #2 Selling unsellable products or services.  An enticing link and a great product description can not save you if what you are selling isn’t what the customer is looking for. Additionally, if you are offered higher placement in the commission network on a lousy product and far lower placement on a popular or sellable product, do not let greed cloud your judgment.

Affiliate Marketing Mistake 3: Failing to size up the competition.  Continuing education is the key to a sustainable marketing campaign.  Successful marketers know that they need to change their tactics constantly to keep ahead.

Affiliate Mistake #4 Assuming the money will come pouring in immediately.  Wealth is rarely if ever achieved without a major commitment of time, resources and effort. If you are not prepared to do your part, it’s best not to take the plunge at all.

Affiliate Marketers often use services associated with Article Marketing because Unique Articles can drive massive amounts of visitors to the affiliates review websites.
