An Internet Marketing Plan created by you for your business

If you do not create an internet marketing plan in advance, you may have trouble when you try to promote your small business. Internet marketing is quite difficult and is more complicated than just putting keywords in the content of your site. The eight key stages to preparing an internet marketing plan: Strategic preparation, analyzing the situation, Studying the Customer, Paying attention to the Product and Market, Placing your product, Pricing Plan, Product Allocation and Online Advertisement.

First Step: Strategic Development. Some key factors need to be taken into consideration, when promoting your business online. Question yourself to know what you are good at. You might consider looking at programs like Delta Squadron if you don’t find what you are good at. Realizing the advantage your business has vis-à-vis the competition will let you gain insight into how your business is better than the others.

Stage Two: Getting a clear picture of the situation… This is undertaken to enhance your knowledge regarding the market you are present in. This can be achieved through various studies such as SWOT analysis, conducting an industry analysis, and analyzing your competition. It is always good to have comprehension of the industry you are in and the methods to be successful in the same.

Phase Three: Studying the Customer…. Gathering knowledge about your customers is what this stage is about. Do you have a plan to effectively sell to an individual about whom you do not know anything? You should have knowledge about their likes, dislikes, hobbies, jobs, family life, etc to be able to successfully promote your business. In fact, some businesses do invent personalities that act as the target customer and develop a plan of marketing to them.

Step Four: Focusing on the Product and the Market… This stage requires you to perform the task of segmenting your market and creating a line of difference in comparison to competition. This is also known as the “Unique Selling Point” or “USP”.

Step Number 5: Product positioning… In simple terms, it is about understanding that specific thoughts come to the mind of a person who hears a company name. What is supposed to come to mind, when somebody says your company name? This is something you need to think about. You need to know how to position your business in your customer’s mind. Get yourself familiar with the four Ps of marketing if you haven’t learned about them until now; product, position, promotion and price.

Stage Six: Pricing Approach… This is one of the four Ps of marketing as well. Knowing how to effectively price your goods or services is required. A good way is to take a look at what the competition is charging. If you are new to the business, you will need to undercut their prices.

Step number 7: Product Distribution…. More commonly known as position, it is the second P in the four Ps of marketing. It is the corporeal spot where your product or service is present. And yeah, having an online business means your position is the internet.

Step Eight: Promoting on the Internet. This is the way you will be advertising your business by using the internet. A plethora of advertising methods are available, including pay per click advertising, newsletters, search engines and article marketing. Find out the most suitable method for your business by conducting tests using each method.

You can certainly use the provided information to create an internet marketing plan for your business.
